The 2013 Da Vinci 'Report Card'

Three in a row for Spanish Spiders

The QP Spanish youth party finished their match schedule with a very respectable record for this year's Da Vinci camp.

In their final game, the boys beat Denia 4-1 with goals from Gregor Wylie, Blair Spittal, Thomas Collins and Nicky Fraser.

Earlier, after losing their first game, QP beat Valencia Under18s 4-2 - despite going a goal down. Helped by a double from Blair Spittal Queen's fought back to run out 4-2 winners.

Their next game pitted them against an excellent Levante youth squad. Again the Spiders lost the first goal; again they fought back to win. The scoreline this time was 2-1, with goals coming from Kieran Galloway and Bernard Coll.

The boys have now finished the camp - and here's hoping they remembered to pack some warm clothes for their return to snowy Scotland.

Young Spiders mix it with the best of them

Twenty young Queen's Park players have been in Spain enjoying the chance to mix with Europe's elite at a prestigious training camp.

The boys, pictured left setting out from Glasgow Airport, faced games against the likes of Valencia and Levante's youth teams after the club won a place on the highly-rated Da Vinci Initiative - for the fourth year in succession.

The youngsters - and the club coaches accompanying them to the exclusive Oliva Nova complex between Valencia and Alicante - felt the benefit from two weeks of full-time training, as well as broadening their knowledge of another country with a series of cultural visits.

Other teams who have trained at Oliva Nova include Barcelona, Borussia Dortmund, Bolton Wanderers and Dynamo Kiev
